This Mother’s Day, we are celebrating 225 businesses run by moms and their children. We asked and they answered: Find out what goes on behind the scenes and how they make it work.

WHAT THEY DO
Founded as a flooring business, Signature has evolved to become a full-service design business.  In addition to the retail store, Signature Southern Accents provides design services for both commercial and residential projects. Clients love finding everything in one place, coordinating wall finishes, flooring, countertops, window treatments, lighting, furniture and accessories.

What advice do you have for other mothers and children working together?
My mom is so good at keeping all the business at work and not bringing it home. She has never shown favoritism to me over other employees, and it makes such a difference.

What makes your relationship work well for the business?
We are “two peas in a pod” with similar personalities, so fortunately, we very seldom clash.

What is the biggest challenge in working together?
My mom and I both have very strong personalities, and that usually works out in our favor.

What unique talents/traits do each of you bring to the partnership?
I learned from my mom, and we are both organized, motivated, reliable, hardworking, and always keep the company, our customers, and our employees best interests in mind.
