‘225 Best Eats’ raises more than $6,000 for Trevor’s Wish

Last month, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank teamed up with the community to spotlight Hunger Action Month. A large part of the effort was the Trevor’s Wish citywide food drive. Trevor’s Wish was started to honor the life of Trevor Sims, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer and died last October. One of Sims’ last wishes was to feed the hungry. Last year’s drive was hosted the first week of September and collected 40,000 pounds of nonperishable food items and more than $80,000 in monetary donations, which is equivalent to more than 433,000 meals for those who are in need.

As part of this year’s food drive, the 225 Best Eats promotional campaign allowed readers and customers to purchase meals for families in need. The Best Eats option raised $6,670.19 for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. The money is enough for around 33,000 meals, according to the local organization.
