What’s fresh at Baton Rouge farmers markets for June 2021

A bountiful summer harvest is coming to local farmers markets this month, with lots of fresh, locally sourced produce to show off in your favorite summer recipes.

This month’s selection at the Red Stick Farmers Market will feature fresh fruits like blueberries, cantaloupes and cucumbers, as well as a spread of summer squashes like zucchini and eggplant.

Also hitting the stands this month are sweet corn, onions, green beans and new potatoes.

And as if there weren’t already enough incentive to hit the local markets, June marks the start of the Summer Fresh Fest, during which the market highlights a different item every Saturday. Dairy Day kicks things off on June 5, followed by Blueberry Bash on June 12, Tomato Me Crazy on June 19, and Corn & Squash-Tastic on June 26.
