Dietitian and trainer, Red Stick Fitness

Shaunna Lizak has a gift: She makes others feel beautiful every day.

As a personal trainer and dietitian, she uses fitness to teach confidence.

She trains up to 15 people a day and always makes a point to look each individual in the eyes and tell them she believes in them—that they can do anything.

Lizak has always had a healthy lifestyle. Growing up, she was on her high school’s dance team and her mother taught her about cooking and nutrition. But she recognizes that not everyone was raised with those values. Some of her clients struggle with self worth.

With a natural ability to read people, she uses her calm, soothing voice to lift them up and instill self esteem.

Lizak works tirelessly each day from 5 a.m. to about 7 p.m., and it’s clear that for her, training is more than just a job. Her clients quickly become family. She still has her first client, and she’s since trained both of his daughters—and attended their weddings. She now trains their husbands, too.

She shares a recent message from a client that sums it all up: “No one has ever believed in me and pushed me to do the things she did … and not just in the gym—to be a better person.”

Describe yourself in three words. “Nurturing, intuitive, compassionate.”

Fun fact: “I’m a master scuba diver.”

If your house were on fire and you could only save one thing, what would it be? “I would grab my French bulldog, Margot.”

Ideal date? “I love outdoor concerts at the beach, something like that. Simple, casual dinner.”

Thoughts on the Baton Rouge dating scene? “I’ve dated some really spectacular guys I just sort of met going through life. I would say there are great guys out there. … I hear a lot of women complain there are no great guys in Baton Rouge—that’s not the right attitude.”
