Gourmet in the Garden returns this weekend at Burden

The annual fundraiser Gourmet in the Garden is set to return this Friday, April 22, bringing outdoor dining and tastings from local chefs to the AgCenter’s Botanic Gardens at Burden.

Local restaurants participating this year include PF Chang’s, City Pork, Tiger Deaux-nuts, Pork Belly’s, Bistro Byronz, The Merchant Overpass, LSU Dining, ACF Baton Rouge, Chef Gabby (private chef and catering), Louisiana Culinary Institute’s savory, baking and pastry students and more.

A student chef cook-off will also take place, and a celebrity panel—featuring Jay Ducote, Jess Pryles and Bill and Karen Profita—will judge entries. Guests will also be able to vote in the People’s Choice category for best chef creations.

Desserts will be provided by LCI students and Louisiana breweries and distilleries will provide the drinks. Live music from Kirk Holder will round out the evening.

The event is organized by the LSU AgCenter, Burden Horticulture Society and the Louisiana Culinary Institute, with funds supporting educational programs at Burden and the LCI Foundation, which provides scholarships for Louisiana Culinary Institute students and feeds local homeless shelters.

Gourmet in the Garden starts at 7 p.m., Friday, April 22, at LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden, 4560 Essen Lane. Tickets start at $60 per person in advance ($70 at the door) and include dinner and beverages. Tickets can be purchased here.
