Duvic’s brunch is the real deal

A hidden gem among the Perkins Road overpass area, Duvic’s Bar & Grill is serving up brunch Sundays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The local watering hole known for its martinis and other cocktails, ramped up its kitchen when owner Shane Courrégé took over five years ago. About a year ago, he started serving a brunch menu with very little marketing. So far, Courrégé says the response has been great, with extended hours to feed those in the service industry.

“We say it’s a culinary twist on regular bar food,” he says. “We’ve got a few brunch and lunch items, and we’ll run a special each Sunday.”

Though he’s humble, the menu speaks for itself. Shrimp and grits, French toast, egg Benedict and boudin Benedict are on the menu for those looking for more traditional brunch items, all under $10. Then, there are a few small plates such as a Caprese salad and duck fat fries. The menu also features a few takes on the chicken sandwich and four stellar burger options.

“We’re pretty picky about our burgers,” Courrégé says, laughing. “We grind our own beef every day and get our buns from a local bakery in Plaquemine.”
