New Venture Theatre presents a tale of forbidden love. The local theater company’s production of Aida kicks off at the Manship Theatre Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Performances continue Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $25 online. The play tells the story of the love that blossoms between an enslaved Nubian princess and an Egyptian soldier despite their cultural differences. The production features a pop-rock score created by Elton John and Tim Rice and was one of the longest-running Broadway shows.
