‘225’: Dinner at Duang Tawan

Don’t let Duang Tawan’s humble façade fool you. The Thai restaurant at 4850 S. Sherwood Forest Blvd. is a hidden jewel, according to our restaurant reviewer in this month’s 225. The spot has a large menu that features succinct dish descriptions for the uninitiated. For an appetizer, our critic tasted the restaurant’s Larb, a mildly spicy hybrid of ground/chopped pork loaded with slivers of red onion and chopped cilantro. After a second appetizer of Pork Thai Dumplings and a bowl of Shrimp Tom Yum soup, our critic dined on Duck Pineapple Curry and Steamed Fish with an accompaniment of Chicken Spicy Basil noodles. The duck entrée is a “distinct achievement,” our critic says. “The fragrant coconut milk sauce along with duck, squash, bamboo shoots and sweet pineapple chunks was an unequivocal hit.” Read the full review.
