Sugarbelle bakery expanding with Perkins Road, BRCC locations

Business has been going well for local baker Kasie Coleman at her Plank Road store Sugarbelle. It’s been so successful that she’s opening up another location this March in the former Sweet Wishes at 10889 Perkins Rd. and will have a booth in Baton Rouge Community College’s dining hall.

The expansion comes less than one year after her original location opened.

“I always wanted to expand, but I didn’t think it would happen in less than a year,” she says. “I get asked, ‘Why are you way out here?’ at least twice a day. When the former owner of Sweet Wishes reached out to me and asked if I wanted to take over [the location], I couldn’t pass it up.”

The Perkins Road location will have a seating area and more baked goods options, including stuffed breads, cinnamon rolls and ice cream in addition to her popular cupcakes, whoopie pies and praline brownies. With a bigger location, Coleman says she’ll also be able to bring candy bar buffets and cupcake bars to events.

“This location allows me to do more stuff that I love to do,” she says.

The Perkins Road location’s hours will be Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

The BRCC location will be a booth-style space with Sugarbelle treats and will be open later this year. This location’s hours will be Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
