Watch a youth production of Hadestown this weekend
Sullivan Theater Youth Company brings the hit folk opera Hadestown Teen Edition to the Capital Region on Thursday, Aug. 13, through Sunday, Aug. 16, with a 7:30 p.m. curtain Thursday through Saturday, and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.
Watch the timeless Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone reframed in the setting of Depression-era New Orleans.

See air balloons take flight this weekend
The Zachary Really Hot Air Balloon Festival features live music, food trucks and a fantastic view of hot air balloons in the sky from 4 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14 and Saturday, Aug. 15.
The fourth edition of this event will be held at BREC’s Zachary Community Park, which is located at 20055 Old Scenic Hwy. in Zachary.

Feast from food trucks Friday
Food Truck Round-Up at the Rowe is back this Friday, Aug. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m.
This free, family-friendly event will feature a wide variety of local food trucks such as Knuckleheads, Chris’s Specialty Foods, Caribbean Express and Creamy Dips.

Sip, snack and give back Saturday
Help “knock out” multiple sclerosis this Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Knock Out MS Gala at L’Auberge Casino Hotel.
This event is the foundation’s biggest fundraiser with live music by REWIND, a silent and live auction, a bourbon basket raffle and more.

Watch a local talent show Saturday
Mid City Redevelopment Alliance presents the second annual Mid City’s Got Talent on Friday, Aug.14, at the Raising Cane’s River Center.
The show, which begins at 6 p.m., features talented acts from across the Capital Region who will compete for the $1,000 grand prize and the title of Mid City’s Got Talent Champion.

Celebrate Blue Dog’s return to Baton Rouge Saturday
New exhibition “Reflections: The Art of George Rodrigue” opens at the Louisiana Art & Science Museum on Saturday, Aug. 15.
