Business owner Dasmin Felton sought to offer something that didn’t exist in the Capitol Area: a trailer dedicated to cheesecakes.
Creamy Dips opened the windows to its trailer on May 30. It is currently parked outside Calloway’s Health & Fitness at 13436 Jefferson Hwy.
As a self-taught baker, Felton began Creamy Dips in 2018 out of her home kitchen as an order and pick-up shop.
“[I named] my business Creamy Dips because my cheesecakes are creamy and they can’t stand without the freezer,” the Alexandria native says. “The dips part came in because I was originally supposed to dip cheesecakes on a stick, but that’ll come later down the line.”

Felton attributes the success of her business to local food influencer Maameefua Koomson, who promoted her on social media.
“She helped me get to where I am at,” Felton says. “We did a sampler box and posted a video, and it went viral. I pretty much outgrew my home from there.”
Creamy Dips’ menu rotates each week. Cheesecakes vary in size from classic round cakes to medium pans and miniatures. They can be purchased as singles, in a baker’s choice three-pack, or as a four-pack sampler box.
Fan favorites like Cookie Butter and Strawberry sell out the fastest, according to Felton. Cookie Butter consists of a graham cracker crust and a plain base topped with cookie butter sauce, whipped cream and a Biscoff cookie. The classic Strawberry cheesecake is a plain base topped with strawberry sauce, whipped cream and a strawberry slice. Another favorite is the Strawberry Crunch, which consists of a creamy strawberry rolled in a crunchy coating and topped with whipped cream and a strawberry slice.
Other flavors include Red Velvet Oreo, Cake Batter and Caramel Banana Pudding. Felton’s personal favorite is Caramel Pecan. Mini cheesecakes and cookie sandwiches are also available on occasion. To wash it all down and offer a refreshing way to beat the heat, Creamy Dips offers five lemonade flavors.

But creating over a hundred cheesecake flavors is no easy feat. Hoping to reach 250 flavors by the end of the year, Felton strives to create 30 to 40 each month.
“I’ll just walk through the store and go down the aisles and look at look at different things,” Felton says. “Like different cookies, I’m like, ‘Oh, let’s do strawberry cookie butter, Oreo cookie butter, and banana cookie butter.’”
Felton is proud of Creamy Dips and its success thus far despite challenges she has faced along the way.
“I was about to quit in June of 2020,” she says. “I was going to give up because my work and craft were good and the taste was there, but I didn’t have the people to get where I wanted to be.”
With Creamy Dips open at specific times, Felton aims to eventually open at least five days a week. However, as a single business owner without support staff, it makes running the trailer more challenging.
“Not having an extra person to teach how to do things is [tough], because I am making at least 400 or 500 cheesecakes a week by myself,” Felton says. “So it’s just extremely hard right now.”
Felton’s long-term goal is to franchise Creamy Dips.
“I plan to open at least six locations around Louisiana. That’s my dream; that’s my goal along with getting out of this trailer but keeping it going with staff,” Felton says. “And soon as well is to have a movable van.”
The Creamy Dips trailer’s hours vary by week, and its rotating menu can be found on its Instagram and Facebook.
