On Trend: Old clothes, new trends

If you’re like me, I “don’t have anything to wear” and I “really need to go shopping” every single day. I complain that my closet is completely empty, but I seem to always be out of hangers.

Honestly, I just really like new clothing. Don’t judge; who doesn’t? Unfortunately for me, I sometimes need to eat and fill my car with gas, among other things, so I can’t always buy this new clothing. So, how do I dress with the times and save money? After all, it’s not that I don’t like the clothes I have; they just don’t feel shiny and new to me after a while.

Chances are, if you are also worried about this you probably have fashionable items in your closet that just need a little tweaking. Remember, fashion is about making yourself feel confident. Otherwise, what’s the point?

Let’s go through some trends that were in style and still remain in style. You might need to buy one or two items, but that’s better than purchasing a whole new outfit.

Long skirts: Last year you probably bought one and paired it with a matching tank top. This year, wear the same skirt but try it with a graphic Tee or a crop-top.

If you ask me: Don’t be afraid of crop-tops. There are so many options, and so many prices. Shop around and find one that will match something in your closet, and make you feel fabulous.

White jeans: Last year you wore a brightly colored, loose-fitting blouse—untucked. This year, try cuffing your jeans to just above the ankle, tuck in your denim buttondown and throw on a fun necklace. Or, shop for a pastel top of any kind.

If you ask me: there’s nothing wrong with “denim-on-denim,” as long as it is fitted.

Necklaces: Long or short? Chunky or loose? Well, this year, it’s a little bit of everything. Layering is all the rage. Wear your cute little “wish necklace” with your long pendant, or go for two short, loose necklaces at once. Why not?

If you ask me:  chunky necklaces are still best when worn alone.
