MPAC to return June 2016 as Arts Council fundraiser

The MPAC: Music, People, Art and Community event will return to downtown Baton Rouge next summer, but the third annual event will be produced by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.

The all-white attire event was created by 225, and the magazine produced the first two annual events along with sister publication inRegister. While the Arts Council will produce next year’s event—which will return to the Shaw Center for the Arts on June 2, 2016—225 and inRegister will remain partners.

“We’re glad to be working together again and providing this creative event for our community to enjoy,” says 225 Publisher Julio Melara in a prepared statement. “We couldn’t have a better partner.”

Last year, more than 1,500 people attended MPAC, which featured a variety of artistic mediums, local cuisine, signature cocktails and entertainment across six floors of the Shaw Center. As a non-profit organization, the Arts Council will produce the popular and successful event as an annual fundraiser and says it looks forward to building upon the success of the first two MPAC events.

“The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is grateful to 225 for creating MPAC for the city and is thrilled to continue growing it as the premier arts and networking event in downtown Baton Rouge,” says Arts Council President Renee Chatelain in a prepared statement.
