Movie picks: ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy wraps up

#OneLastTime, so the hashtag goes. Peter Jackson is concluding his love letter to J.R.R. Tolkien Wednesday with the release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Let’s be real, no one needed three movies about the shortest book in Tolkien’s universe, but you got them anyway. The conclusion will feature more walking, Benedict Cumberbatch and a 45-minute battle as the future of Middle-Earth hangs in the balance. Like previous entries, fans will eat it up, and there will be beautiful special effects. Others, like me, are just waiting for Jackson to pick up something original. Rated PG-13.
