Hit ‘follow’ on these local food Instagrammers

If you’re the kind of person who pulls up Yelp to try to find pictures of a dish before deciding if you really want to order it, we get you. Luckily, there are several local social media users who understand you, too. They curate their feeds with some of Baton Rouge’s most interesting, tasty and yes, Instagram-worthy plates. So next time you’re craving a new culinary experience, check out their feeds and let them do the hard work of discovering new dishes for you. As they say, we eat with our eyes first.

This account is great for finding those hidden- gem plates from restaurants you already love, like pesto hummus at Zoe’s Kitchen, muffins at Kolache Kitchen and the many guac varieties at Somos Bandidos. It also features cool videos (check out the one of Cafeciteaux Coffee Roasters cold brew as it’s poured over a giant coffee ice cube) and home cooking inspiration using local ingredients such as Ronnie’s boudin.

Everything @eatlovebr does is does with style—and that may be why it has the most followers of any on this list. Overhead shots of salads and sandwiches are arranged just-so next to succulents or carefully folded napkins. From its posts, you’ll get plenty of ideas about foodie events to attend and what to eat where, such as Roux House’s Dealbreaker burger with peanut butter aioli or Spanish Town Market’s chicken teriyaki with fried rice and boudin egg rolls.

If you’re looking for a dish to help spoil your diet, you’ll find it here: pizza and chicken parm from DiGiulio Brothers, burgers and shakes from Fat Cow, Philly Ice from Everything Philly. And when @eats225 is not sharing appetizing Baton Rouge finds, it’s posting images of meals and desserts from travels to Paris, Italy and around Louisiana.

The photos on this page are just as bright and clean as the account’s scripty, stylish logo. For @foodiestoforkwith, food is a lifestyle. Follow along for shots of yoga at Tin Roof or healthy drinks like Big Squeezy juices, kombucha and Cajun Organics wheatgrass shots. And don’t worry—while healthy breakfast oatmeal and salads are a regular part of this feed, there’s no shortage of doughnut or macaron posts, either.

While there’s a mix of personal posts and food shots on display here, the home cook behind @ieatbr makes sure every food photo really counts. Follow the account as it samples dishes from spots like Curbside Burgers and Beausoleil and uses local goods to make homemade, beautifully styled dishes like brisket chili or Swamp Pop pecan praline pound cake. This LSU student-run food blog celebrates college food in all its glory: breakfast-all-day at Louie’s Cafe, cheesy breadsticks from Mellow Mushroom and treats from Cupcake Allie. And for students brave enough to get in the kitchen, Spoon LSU also has original recipes.

This account features dishes from restaurants all over the state. It has plenty of Baton Rouge coverage, too, from Mestizo’s tacos to Galatoire’s Bistro’s crawfish and andouille bread pudding. As the name suggests, we can’t promise it won’t make you want to take a foodie road trip, either.

Honorable mention

We have written about Franz Borghardt’s @brbrunches and @batonrougeburgers before, but don’t forget to follow his mouthwatering accounts, too.
