Support students and taste wine Friday

Raise a glass to raise funds for student scholarships at Southern University AgCenter’s annual Vino on the Bluff wine tasting event. 

At 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, there will be wine and whiskey tastings, live entertainment, a silent auction and more.

General admission tickets are $75. The event is at the Leon R. Tarver II Cultural and Heritage Center, located at 8320 G. Leon Netterville Dr.

Attend a free art reception Friday

Kelwood Contemporary Art presents a solo exhibition by Amanda Farris on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m.

“Into the Greenhouse” is a free event that opens Farris’s exhibition, which features her abstract floral oil paintings. Farris won the 2026 Best of 225 Award for Best Visual Artist.

Kelwood Contemporary Art is located at 8202 Kelwood Ave. 


Experience an immersive artistic performance Saturday

Experience this one-of-a-kind performance at the Louisiana Art & Science Museum’s Irene W. Pennington Planetarium at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The Honey Gold Experience is a live, immersive video-audio show performed by Louisiana artists. 

Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children. LASM is located at 100 S. River Rd.


Immerse yourself in Cajun culture Saturday

A free Swamp Life Expo will take place in Iberville on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Experience Cajun culture at this expo through live Zydeco music, food and arts and crafts.

Explore Louisiana’s coast from indoors Sunday

Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority is throwing a free, family-friendly nature and wildlife event at the LSU Center for River Studies on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Get an up-close look at coastal wildlife, learn about conservation efforts and learn how the Mississippi River shapes the coast.

Celebrate local culture Sunday

The West Baton Rouge Museum will hold its 31st annual SugarFest on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

This free festival will feature cane-cutting and grinding demonstrations, praline candy making and more demonstrations, along with live music. 

The West Baton Rouge Museum is located at 845 North Jefferson Ave, Port Allen.


Create Halloween crafts Sunday

Admission to Louisiana’s Old State Capitol will be free on Sunday, Oct. 4, from noon to 4 p.m. At this First Free Sunday event, families can create a variety of fall-themed crafts and explore the museum.

Louisiana’s Old State Capitol is located at 100 North Blvd. The event is free, but you can reserve a spot here.
