Catch performances of ‘A Christmas Carol’ and ‘Jingle ARRGH the Way’ until Dec. 17

This weekend, take a break from your busy schedule of Christmas shopping, wrapping and baking for two local theater productions. Theatre Baton Rouge’s A Christmas Carol and Playmakers of Baton Rouge’s Jingle ARRGH the Way will both run through Sunday, Dec. 17.

A Christmas Carol, written by Charles Dickens, has become a Christmas staple. The ghosts of Christmases past, present and future guide the cold-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge on a journey of transformation and redemption as he comes full circle, adopting generosity, kindness and Christmas.

Tickets are $19 for children and students and $25 for general admission. Tickets may be purchased at the box office or online. TBR will stage A Christmas Carol at 7:30 p.m. Friday, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and the final performance, which is ASL interpreted, at 2 p.m. Sunday. Theatre Baton Rouge is at 7155 Florida Blvd.

Playmakers of Baton Rouge, in its 35th season, is currently presenting Jingle ARRGH the Way, a “How I Became a Pirate” Christmas adventure.

The show tells the tale of Captain Braid Beard and his pirate mates, who, seeking out young Jeremy Jacob, will head to North Beach to solve a riddle and uncover the Christmas treasure.

Catch a performance of the show this Saturday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., or at 2 p.m. Sunday. Performances will be held in the Reilly Theatre on Tower Drive on LSU’s campus. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the show.
