On to the next round – Megan Miller gets golden ticket on Idol

Baton Rougean Megan Miller will go to the next round on American Idol.

Miller spoke to 225 yesterday about her appearance on last season of the reality show. On last night’s season 13 premiere, Miller wowed judges with a performance of Carrie Underwood’s “Last Name.”

Judge Harry Connick Jr. told Miller she was a powerhouse, and they all put her through to the next round with the golden ticket to Hollywood.

That next slate of auditions is where Miller was eliminated last year. Miller says the nerves and surrounding talent got the best of her. This year, Miller says she’s ready to show the judges her talent and has been preparing for this moment.

“I took my audition a lot more seriously this year,” Miller says. “I’ve been working every day since I got cut last year. This became my No. 1 goal in my life.”

After a bit of sulking, Miller says she got back to work, created a band and gigged around the state.

“I learned songs every day, started picking up the guitar and keyboard, started voice lessons and getting more entertainment experience,” she says. “[To be named American Idol] is about being the whole package. Last year, I knew I had one piece of the package. I put a lot more pressure on myself this year. I’m in it to win it.”
