‘Daily Report’: Details emerge on Table Kitchen and Bar, Crispy Catch, Thai Kitchen move

Just weeks after Portico closed its restaurant in Southdowns Shopping Center on Perkins Road, a new restaurant with a farm-to-table concept has been announced as its replacement.

Table Kitchen and Bar has signed a lease to move into the roughly 3,500-square-foot space at 4205 Perkins Road, and hopes to be open as early as March. The concept is the brainchild of Scott and Michelle Wilson, and has been in the works for more than a year.

“Table will be a culmination of successful concept ingredients taken from ideas across North America and executed as a singular and unique concept in Baton Rouge,” says Scott Wilson in a prepared statement.

Table Kitchen and Bar’s daily menu will focus on traditional offerings such as chicken, pork, fish and steak—all with a farm-to-table culinary approach—as well as featured selections of game and charcuterie. The restaurant will serve alcohol, with a wine list, craft beers and cocktails. Read Steve Sanoski’s full story via Daily Report.

Crispy Catch announces spring opening
More details on the Crispy Catch seafood restaurant have trickled out this week. The restaurant is still under development in the former Kean’s Fine Dry Cleaning building near the Perkins Road overpass. Though a specific opening date has not yet been announced, the owners say the restaurant will be open this spring and will feature indoor and patio seating. Read Steve Sanoski’s full story via Daily Report.

Thai Kitchen is on the move
A popular restaurant and sushi bar will move down the road. According to a new story from Daily Report, the owner of Thai Kitchen has a purchase agreement on a vacant building at 4564 Bennington Ave. and plans to relocate his restaurant from the Southdowns Village Shopping Center later this year. Owner Sam Sanguanruang says he plans to spend $740,000 on the building and another $500,000 or so renovating the Bennington space. The new building, however, has not been successful as a restaurant location for recent tenants. Katrachos, a Honduran eatery, was its last tenant, and it closed after just one year in business.
