Chef John Besh talks at TEDxLSU

The third TEDxLSU conference is coming to the Capital City this weekend. Among the 12 scheduled speakers is New Orleans chef John Besh.

A South Louisiana native, Besh is the man behind eight restaurants, including Lüke, Domenica and August. The James Beard Foundation inducted him into the 2014 Who’s Who in Food & Beverage” cadre, which honors some of the most accomplished food and beverage professionals in the country. August is a Gayot Top 40 Restaurant and a Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Restaurant in addition to being a 2012 and 2013 James Beard Nominee for Outstanding National Restaurant.

Besh will discuss how his foundation supports local farmers and purveyors through Milk Money Micro Loans as part of TEDxLSU Saturday, Feb. 28. Established in 2011, Milk Money Micro Loans provides scholarships, grants and loans to passionate New Orleans individuals and promotes the preservation of the city’s culinary history. The loans aim to arm farmers with the tools they need to thrive in today’s marketplace. In turn, Besh hopes this will make the availability of local ingredients and products more than a fad.

Though general public tickets have sold out, attendees can add their names to the waitlist. Get more information on TEDxLSU here.
