Events picks: Theatre Baton Rouge breathes life into ‘A Christmas Carol’

The holiday tradition continues as Theatre Baton Rouge presents Charles Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol. Performances start Friday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m. and continue through Dec. 21. The G-rated show tells the timeless story of the miserable grouch Ebenezer Scrooge, who changes his attitude after seeing the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. The cast includes Mike Katchmer as Scrooge, Travis H. Williams as Fred, Davis Hotard as Bob Cratchet and many more. Tickets are $25 for non-subscribers and $21 for subscribers. Have a holly, jolly time at the 64th annual Downtown Christmas Parade
Baton Rouge will be bustling with cheer Saturday, Dec. 13, as the annual Downtown Christmas Parade rolls through at 5:30 p.m. The free event includes around 80 entries with a mix of marching bands, celebrities, non-profit organizations and local businesses making an appearance. VIP bleacher seats are available for $25 per person. Get more information.

Forum 35 hosts its December Forum Friday, Dec. 12, at Juban’s. The event starts at noon and features a discussion about Baton Rouge’s past, present and future with Mayor Kip Holden. Lunch is $20 for Forum 35 members, $25 for non-members. RSVP and get more information.
