Busy food week in BR: The Taste at L’Auberge, Blend wine dinner and more

It’s another busy food week in Baton Rouge. Here’s a look at some of the big food events and happenings.

Mary Bird Perkins — Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center is taking this year’s The Taste fundraiser to L’Auberge Casino & Hotel. The event kicks off at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 23. Tickets are $100 per person and $175 per couple. Tickets include small plates and bites from more than 25 area restaurants and chefs. This year’s participants include Restaurant IPO, Bin 77 and Louisiana Culinary Institute. Check out more details.

Blend Wine Bar is hosting the Thumbprint Cellars Wine Dinner Wednesday, April 22. The five-course dinner puts the spotlight on the California winery. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Dinner starts no later than 7:30 p.m. Cost is $75 per person. Check out the full menu and get more details. Ruffino’s will also host a Thumbprint Cellars dinner Thursday, April 23, featuring dishes created by Chef Patrick Waters. If you enjoy wine, you can sample a good bit at The Wine Tasting ExperienceMore than 60 wines will be on hand for patrons Friday, April 24, 6 p.m.-9 p.m., across the Circa 1857 complex at 1857 Government St. Yvette Marie’s Cafe and Bonanno’s Fine Catering will provide hors d’oeuvres. Patrons (21 and older) can get an exclusive tasting glass for $20. Proceeds from the event benefit Cancer Can Kiss My Cups and the American Cancer Society.

Strands Cafe is hosting a Mother’s Day Tea Saturday, April 25. The menu features sandwiches, scones, desserts and surprises. Seatings are available 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Price is $29.95 per person. To make a reservation, call 334-5346.
