Gnarly Barley Brewing Co., the Louisiana brewery behind beers such as Catahoula Common and (my favorite) Korova Milk Porter, is celebrating its first birthday this weekend.

The brewery hosts its first anniversary party Saturday, May 9, noon-4 p.m. at its site at 1709 Corbin Road in Hammond. The event includes music from Will Vance & the Kinfolk and a limited edition anniversary glass available for $10. Food trucks will also be there, providing food for purchase.

Tin Roof hosts crawfish boil this weekend, ‘Bite and Booze’ next week

Baton Rouge’s own Tin Roof is getting in on the spring festivities with a few upcoming events. The Capital City brewery at 1624 Wyoming St. is hosting a Battle of the Boil fundraiser Saturday, May 9, 2 p.m.-6 p.m. A $25 donation gets all-you-can-eat crawfish and raffle entry. All proceeds benefit the Louisiana Solar Industry.

Next Tuesday, May 12, the brewery is teaming with Jay Ducote of Bite and Booze and MasterChef season six hopeful Jesse Romero for a barbecue feast. The menu features smoked chicken wings, mac and cheese and braised greens. Plates will be sold for $10.
