See ‘In the Heights’ at Manship Theatre

New Venture Theatre tackles a Tony Award winner this weekend. The local theatre company’s new production, In the Heights, tells the story of New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood, a community on the brink of change and full of dreams, pressures and struggles. New Venture’s run of the 2008 Tony Award winner for Best Musical starts Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Manship Theatre and continues Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $25. This is New Venture’s seventh season, and in August, Manship announced it will host the company as a year-round resident. This is the first time Manship has had a resident theatre company.
