See comic works at The Arts Council’s ‘Frame by Frame’
The Arts Council hosts an exhibition of sequential art drawings and comic panels by local artist Daniel Strickland. A free opening reception takes place Thursday 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Arts Council’s Firehouse Gallery at 427 Laurel St. The show is part of the gallery’s growing exhibition programming. Strickland has been in love with comics since he was young, but his art panels don’t just feature the violent superheroes and monsters of popular books like He-Man. Rather, Strickland draws inspiration from ancient cave paintings in Lascaux, France, roadside billboards and even assembly directions for IKEA furniture. The exhibit will be on display through Oct. 10. For more information, call 344-8558 or visit artsbr.org.
