Celebrate the release of a local author’s new thriller
The Old Governor’s Mansion will be the site of a book launch this week. The historical building celebrates the release of Michael H. Rubin’s fictional thriller The Cottoncrest Curse Thursday at 6 p.m. Set after the Civil War, Rubin’s book unravels the mystery behind Augustine and Rebecca Chastaine’s deaths. As the investigation proceeds, Sheriff Raifer Jackson thinks he’s found his prime suspect. The event (at 502 North Blvd.) is free, but reservations are required.
