LSU Theatre & Film presents POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying To Keep Him Alive at the Shaver Theatre this weekend.
This comedic play will run at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27.
Tickets can be purchased here. Shaver Theatre is in LSU’s Music and Dramatic Arts Building, which is located at 4230 Dalrymple Dr.
Celebrate “Dolly Appreciation Day” Friday
Local non-profit organization Dolly Diamonds is hosting a fundraiser at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library’s Main Library this Friday, Sept. 25, aka “Dolly Appreciation Day.”
The free event will include a Dolly look-alike contest, a 9 to 5 movie screening, refreshments and Imagination Library enrollment starting at 6:30 p.m.
This event is free, but the organization requests an RSVP. The Main Library is located at 7711 Goodwood Blvd.
Have your child’s car seat inspected Saturday
Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys is partnering with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force for a child safety seat inspection event in recognition of National Seat Check Saturday.
On Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to noon, certified technicians will provide free child safety seat inspections and hands-on assistance.
The event will take place at Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys, located at 5656 Hilton Ave.
Purchase plants Saturday
The East Baton Rouge Master Gardeners’ Fall Plant Sale will be held Saturday, Sept. 26 at the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens.
From 8 a.m. to noon, attendees can shop for locally grown plants such as amaryllis, canna lilies, irises, roses and more.
This event is free to attend. The LSU Ag Center Botanic Gardens at Burden is at 4560 Essen Ln.
Listen to the Baton Rouge Concert Band Sunday
On Sunday, Sept. 27, the Baton Rouge Concert Band will perform its free Fall Concert at the Plaza at the Main Branch of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library.
Starting at 5 p.m., the band will be honoring America’s 250th anniversary by playing patriotic classics, marches, traditional songs and Broadway hits.
This concert is free to attend. The Main Library is located at 7711 Goodwood Blvd.
Attend a concert fundraiser Sunday
University United Methodist Church will hold a fundraiser concert benefiting Front Yard Bikes on Sunday, Sept. 27.
Starting at 6 p.m., listen to performances by up-and-coming contemporary folk musician Katie Love and folk-rock band Clay Parker and Jodi James in the sanctuary at University United Methodist Church, located at 3350 Dalrymple Dr.
50 percent of proceeds will go to Front Yard Bikes, and suggested donations are $20 for individuals, $50 for families and $10 for students, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
