Things to do this week in Baton Rouge: Symphony Week, live music and more events
Celebrate Symphony Week
The Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra will host seven free concerts around Baton Rouge this week, from Tuesday, Aug. 4, to Saturday, Aug. 8.
On each day, attendees can hear a small ensemble performance at a different venue around town at noon, plus an additional performance at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Learn about trains Tuesday
Head to the Old Governor’s Mansion on Tuesday, Aug. 4, for a free presentation by the Louisiana Orphan Train Museum.
Learn about the history of children who traveled from New York to Louisiana in search of a new life between 1873 and 1929.
The presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m., and a free reception will follow. The Old Governor’s Mansion is located at 502 North Blvd. Click here for more information.

On Wednesday, Aug. 6, TBR Books and Tea will hold its monthly Club Classics Book Club from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
This month, readers will discuss James Baldwin’s If Beale Street Could Talk.

Listen to indie rock Friday
Indie-rock band Of Montreal will be performing at Chelsea’s Live on Friday, Aug. 7, at 9 p.m.
This group rose to fame in the late ’90s and has played their synth-driven tunes at festivals such as Lollapalooza and Coachella.
Tickets cost $30 before fees. Chelsea’s Live is located at 1010 Nicholson Dr.
