Soak up the sounds of jazz and blues at two events this weekend

Check out the River City Jazz Masters Series

Baton Rouge is hosting a plethora of events this week, but two in particular may appeal to the music lovers in the community.

Internationally renowned four-piece vocal ensemble New York Voices will be performing tonight, Sept. 28, as part of the River City Jazz Masters Series.

The group, known for its “close-knit voicings, unparalleled vocal blend and inspired arrangements,” performs in a variety of settings, from big band to an intimate trio lineup.

Now, nearly 30 years since its founding, the group has produced 12 albums, traveled the globe and performed with a number of notable jazz artists, including Bobby McFerrin and Ray Brown.

New York Voices will take the Manship Theatre stage at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Tickets range in price from $25 to $45 and can be purchased here.
