Six Halloween events to attend around Baton Rouge this week

It’s finally here—everyone’s favorite spooky holiday is right around the corner, and we’ve got you covered with six spine-tingling celebrations around town this week. Check ’em out:

‘Halloween’ screening

What better way to prepare for Halloween than by watching a classic horror movie?

Tonight, Manship Theatre will host a special 40th anniversary screening of Halloween, the most successful independent horror movie ever made. You know the basics—horror icon Michael Myers wreaks havoc on his quiet hometown after escaping police custody.

Manship Theatre’s screening of Halloween will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25. Tickets are $6.50 and can be purchased here. Manship Theatre is at 100 Lafayette St.

Spirits of Louisiana at the Old State Capitol

Tonight, the Old State Capitol is inviting you to an “evening of history, mystery and libations.”

At the third annual Spirits of Louisiana, the historical significance of the Old State Capitol will be explored as guests sample spirits from local distilleries. Cocktail attire “with hints of Halloween” is encouraged.

Tickets to Spirits of Louisiana are $85 and can be purchased here. The event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25. The Old State Capitol is at 100 North Blvd.

Spook N Rowe

This one’s for those of you looking for a family-friendly Halloween experience.

At Spook N Rowe, kids will travel up and down Perkins Rowe trick-or-treating in a fun and safe environment. Live music by DJ Bob will be provided, and plenty of fun activities, such as pumpkin painting and a children’s costume contest, will also be offered.

Spook N Rowe will kick off at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26. Perkins Rowe is at 10000 Perkins Rowe.

Night Maze and Bonfire at Burden

Head over to the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden this Saturday for a relaxing evening of nighttime festivities.

At the Night Maze and Bonfire at Burden event, you can explore the gardens’ corn maze and relax by the bonfire with s’mores, live music and glow-in-the-dark games.

Admission is $10 per person, but children three and younger get in for free. The event will take place Saturday, Oct. 27, 6-9 p.m. The gardens are at 4560 Essen Lane.

Halloween Costume Party

If you’re struggling to find plans for Halloween night, Varsity Theatre has your back.

At its Halloween Costume Party, you can celebrate in style. You’ll want to break out your best costumes for this one—the partygoer with the best costume will take home a $100 cash prize. Performers include Michael Armstead and Lady La Donyette, among others.

Varsity Theatre’s Halloween Costume Party will take place at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here. The Varsity is at 3353 Highland Road.

Mid City Makers Market

At a very special spooky edition of Mid City Makers Market, you and your kids can make the most of the Halloween weekend with local art, live music and booth-to-booth trick-or-treating.

Mid City Makers Market will take place Saturday, Oct. 27, 4-8 p.m. The market is at 541 S. Eugene St.
