Shop local at the Baton Rouge Arts Market this Saturday, Sept. 2

Shop small this Saturday. The monthly Baton Rouge Arts Market, held in conjunction with the Red Stick Farmers Market, will take over the streets of downtown.

The open air market, held on the first Saturday of each month, will feature a variety of hand-crafted arts made by more than 50 artists and craftspeople.

Market-goers will be able to peruse a unique collection of crafts including cast and blown glass, pottery, furniture, jewelry and mosaics from Mimosa Handcrafted Jewelry, Ghada Henagan Ceramics, Adam Hill Fine Art and many more. This month’s market will also include a few newly juried artists, so those who visit the market regularly will see some new faces.

The event sets out to provide entrepreneurial opportunities to members of the Baton Rouge art community and, by allowing artisans to sell directly to the public, fosters a relationship between the two.

Head to the market this Saturday, Sept. 2, on the corner of 5th and Main streets. The event will begin at 8 a.m., with artisans closing up shop at noon.
