Rock out to Chubby Carrier at Live After Five downtown Friday, Sept. 15

Downtown Baton Rouge is kicking into fall gear with plenty of events this weekend

Live After Five returned this month and will feature Grammy Award-winner Chubby Carrier tomorrow, Sept. 15.

The free, outdoor concert series is the most successful in Baton Rouge’s history and sees more than 100,000 audience members per year. A band or performer will play each Friday until Oct. 27.

Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band have a high energy, zydeco sound mixing blues, ’70s funk, rock and roll and classic zydeco.

In the weeks to come, River City Hit Squad, Supercharger, Bag of Donuts, Parish County Line, Larry Garner and Mike Broussard & the Night Train will hit the Live After Five stage. With a mix of old soul, blues, pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B and country, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

The Downtown Business Association, which puts on the series, will be selling beverages and beer to fundraise. Food will be available from local vendors including Somos Bandidos, Schlittz & Giggles, Barbosa’s Barbeque, Everything Philly and more. A dozen local artists will also be selling their works in Artists Alley.

Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band will perform 5-8 p.m. at Repentance Park, 275 S. River Road.
