Raise money for prostate cancer research at Blue Ribbon Soirée Oct. 12

Support prostate cancer research and awareness at the 7th annual Blue Ribbon Soirée tonight, Oct. 12.

The benefit will feature a live and silent auction, food from nearly 20 local vendors, live music by David St. Romain and a raffle for jewelry valued at $2,500. Wine, cocktails and beer will also be available.

The Blue Ribbon Soirée intends to raise awareness of the importance of early detection and to raise funds for research. Over the past six years, the event has raised more than $440,000.

Event proceeds will be distributed among Tulane’s Cancer Center, Mary Bird Perkins — Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center, and Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.

About one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death among men.

The benefit is held in memory of Joel Nasca and Larry Ferachi. Attendees are encouraged to dress in blue, the color of prostate cancer awareness.

The 7th annual Blue Ribbon Soirée will be held 7-10 p.m. tonight, Oct. 12, at the Renaissance Hotel Ballroom at 7000 Bluebonnet Blvd. Tickets are $75. Purchase one here.
