It’s the one day all year you can bring your dog to Liberty Lagoon

Those dog days of summer are almost over, but BREC’s Liberty Lagoon is giving them one last hurrah this weekend. The waterpark is inviting you and your furry friends to its End of Summer Dog Pool Pawty on Sunday, Aug. 27.

At the end of the summer season and before Liberty Lagoon closes for the year, BREC opens the gates to the canines of Baton Rouge. Dogs of all ages and sizes and their owners are invited to enjoy the water for a couple of hours. Please note that all attendees must follow the “Pool Pawty” rules available at libertylagoon.com. The special event follows this schedule:

  • Session 1: 1-3 p.m. (dogs under 40 pounds)
  • Session 2: 3:30-5:30 p.m. (dogs 40 pounds-plus)

This event is limited to 100 dogs per session. Please be advised that attendees will encounter dogs in various conditions (i.e. wet, unleashed, etc.). BREC notes that this is not an event for small children under the age of 5. Call 923-3202 for more information.

Admission is $5 per person with a limit of two dogs per handler. BREC’s Liberty Lagoon is at 111 Lobdell Ave. The End of Summer Dog Pool Pawty is Sunday, Aug. 27, 1-5:30 p.m.
