Local artists, panel discussions and more at Perkins Rowe Arts Festival this weekend

The Perkins Rowe Arts Festival is a one-stop shop for all your art, music and entertainment needs. And, lucky for you, it’s this weekend, Sept. 16-17.

The Perkins Rowe Art Festival, a collaborative effort by Perkins Rowe and the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, is now in its 8th year.

Local artists including Mitch Evans, Joshua Lee, Emily Annabelle Koro and Susan Rodrigue will be showcasing their crafts, woodwork, jewelry and other handmade products.

Festival-goers will be able to enjoy live music from United We Jam, Transit, Orphan Annie and Carbon Copy, along with children’s activities, face paintings, live statues and panel discussions.

Saturday’s activities will spotlight the results of the Baton Rouge Traditions project, a compilation of research on folk life and folk art in the area. The project has been in the works for the past decade, and more than 21 folklorists and writers have contributed.

The festival will be held at 10202 Perkins Rowe, #195, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
