The Corn Maze at Burden
Bring the kids for fun fall activities like finding your way through the Corn Maze, pumpkin painting, hayrides and a petting zoo every Saturday in October at the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden Museum & Gardens. On Oct. 7,
10 a.m.-5 p.m., the facility will host a Corn Maze Festival. On Oct. 28, the AgCenter will also host a night maze and bonfire with s’mores and live music 6-9 p.m. Admission to all events is $10. lsuagcenter.com/botanicgardens

Get ready to pawty. Raising Cane’s Dog Park at Forest Community Park will be overrun with dozens of families and furry friends dressed in their Halloween best. Patrons can enjoy food vendors, live music and meet with local animal organizations, advocacy groups and shelters. Local celebrity guest judges will score in several costume categories with prizes awarded to the winners. 6-9 p.m. brec.org

Boo at the Zoo
More fun activities for families abound at BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo with its “merry-not-scary trick-or-treating extravaganza.” Costumed visitors can check out treat stations throughout the zoo, take a ride on the Spooky Train Ride or wander through the Hay Maze and Enchanted Swamp. Regular zoo admission applies. Gates are open 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Grounds close at 5 p.m. Find out more information at brzoo.org.

Cocktails for a cause at Spirits of Louisiana
The second annual cocktail tasting event showcases our state’s colorful history and spirits crafted by local distilleries. While touring the exhibits of the Old State Capitol, guests will be able to taste Louisiana-made gin, rum, bourbon, vodka and libations. The event serves as a fundraiser for the building’s preservation and program development. 6:30-9:30 p.m. $75. Find the event on Eventbrite.

Halloween parades and more at Fifolet Festival
The four-day Halloween festival returns to Baton Rouge. The festival features a variety of events, but many of the most anticipated activities are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28:

Pumpkin Pi Race: At 3.14 miles, the race is 200 feet longer than other 5ks and is also Baton Rouge’s only Halloween costume race. 8 a.m. on the Mississippi River levee.

• The Halloween Parade: Led by the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, krewes, dancers and bands will dazzle downtown with costumes and candy throws while accepting nonperishable food donations from parade-goers. 2 p.m.

• Baton Rouge’s biggest Halloween block party, The Resurrection II: Head to The Station Sports Bar and Grill for some of the most elaborate costumes of the season. With more than $1,000 in prizes, competition is fierce. Drink specials and a limited menu from The Station will be available for purchase. 7 p.m. $20.

Harry Potter fun at A Halloween Day at the Museum
Fans of the Boy Who Lived will want to turn out for Louisiana Art & Science Museum’s event, with themed activities beginning at 2 p.m. and a screening of The Astronomical World of Harry Potter at 5 p.m. lasm.org

Kid-friendly fun at Haints, Haunts and Halloween
The LSU Rural Life Museum channels country fairs of decades past, featuring storytelling, cake walks and, of course, trick-or-treating. Everyone is encouraged to come in costume. Activities will be held 3-5:30 p.m., followed by trick-or-treating 5:30-6 p.m. $5. lsu.edu/rurallife
