The Arts Council’s Sunday in the Park concert series kicks off Oct. 7
The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is inviting you to celebrate the rich musical heritage of Louisiana at its Sunday in the Park concert series. It kicks off this Sunday with a performance by acclaimed zydeco artist Sean Ardoin.
The concert series, an annual affair, will take place every Sunday in October and two Sundays in November at the Shaw Center for the Arts Plaza.
Sean Ardoin, this season’s inaugural performer, was born into a family of zydeco juggernauts—musicians in his family include legendary Creole artists Amédé Ardoin, Bois Sec Ardoin and his father, Lawrence “Black” Ardoin.

Over the years, Ardoin has performed in some historic settings: Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Space Center and the Library of Congress, to name a few.
Performers slated to take the stage later in Sunday in the Park’s season include famed blues musician Jarekus Singleton, 10-piece horn band Hai Karate and folk outfit Minos the Saint.
The upcoming Sunday in the Park performance featuring Sean Ardoin is Sunday, Oct. 7, 2-5 p.m. The concert is free. The Shaw Center for the Arts is at 100 Lafayette St.
