Think Twice Style: Inspired by Jil Stuart
New York Fashion Week is upon us. Our social media outlets are flooding with images, videos and news about new trends to expect in the spring. After a few days of it, though, I always need to take a break so as not to get over-stimulated. Too much inspiration can be crippling! The moment I began flipping through the stills from the Jil Stuart show, however, I was at total peace. The colors (cool neutrals) are all so soothing.
Better than the color scheme of the collection are these pants! Y’all … they are high-waisted tulip pants. TULIP. PANTS. I always love a good tulip skirt. But pants? I am all about an interesting pant shape. The silk satin drapes perfectly with the round slit up the leg. Shin cleavage? Is that a thing?
It is an unexpected twist, and a welcome one at that! Because these are so new, finding something similar falls in the “impossible” category. Find a pair of high-waisted pants you love and then customize them. I would recommend not spending too much money on them, though, just in case they don’t turn out well. A cheap pair (I would suggest searching thrift shops) is less of a risk. Pair your interesting pants with a blush or lavender blouse—draped or shift shapes are best for a relaxed look. Pretty sandals are a must for peeking out of your shin cleavage. (Seriously … let’s make that a thing.) Go with delicate jewelry—simple chains, small stones—to keep the simplistic aesthetic going.
