On Trend: Polish up

Much like our wardrobe, our nails go through trends as well! We Southern ladies know nothing better than a lunch or after-work mani/pedi, right? So, let’s look at a few of the season’s hottest polishes.

Trying new polish is one of my favorite pastimes. Seriously, I have been known to sport neon highlighter orange to popsicle blue, to chocolate brown. A great nail color can make your outfit. Ask Nina Garcia of Marie Claire magazine. On one of my favorite shows, Project Runway, she stresses the styling of an outfit almost more than the outfit itself. And you never see her naked nails!

If you’ve read one of my previous posts, you already know what colors are on trend! Teal, blue, maroon and tan should make appearances in your wardrobe, and now your nails. Jewel tones are meant to be shown off, so don’t be afraid to mix and match your polish. Paint four nails on each hand teal, and leave one on each hand bright blue! Paint your hands a crisp tan and your toes dark maroon. The possibilities are endless.

If you aren’t a frequent nail painter, try grey or brown hues (the new neutrals). Your nails will pop and match your everyday style. Speaking of pop, metallics are a must-try. Trust me, download OPI’s app (they have an amazing website by the way) and peruse a metallic polish that you would normally never pick up. You won’t be disappointed!

If you ask me: I like the brand OPI, but my good friend Hannah always says the brand of nail polish doesn’t matter as long as you have the OPI clear top coat.
