Feeling grey

When people ask me what my favorite color is, I usually say blue. But, that’s a lie … it’s grey. Boring, right? I cannot deny it, though. Light, dark, in between, with touches of purple or blue hues—I love it all. If I had to wear one color every day for the rest of my life, it would be grey.
The minute I set eyes on this dress, it was love. Grey … silk … shift shape … done! The boxy shape of the dress is offset by the drape of the fabric. Feminine, but not too feminine. This dress is versatile enough to work in any season: with sandals on a scorching day and with tights and boots when the weather cools down. For these days of transitioning into cooler weather—but still feeling the heat mid-day—bare legs and fall shoes are an easy fix. I prefer the boxy cut of loafers for my body to traditional ballet flats. Loafers balance out my hips when I wear both girly and boyish shapes. In the words of Ron Burgundy, “It’s science.”

You’ve heard it before and you will hear it again: accessories make your outfit. I wanted to go with something delicate to balance the boxy shapes of the dress and shoes, but I didn’t want to go with something über simple. A drop necklace is a cool way to bring in a different element into the look. It is still delicate, but it has an edge that something simpler would not.
