What attendees wore to the 2018 Baton Rouge Blues Festival

There’s no better place to let your creative expression fly than a festival dedicated to music and the arts. While we waited for acts like Samantha Fish and Kenny Neal to take the stage, we did a little people watching. These are a few of the outfits that caught our attention.

PEGGY RUSSELL
Massage therapist

Wearing: Gifted shirt, thrifted skirt and boots, Ralph Lauren tights, Billabong hat, Fendi sunglasses and Le Donne Leather Collection purse
My style is…: “Thrifty and funky. I look for the material and fabric first. My closet is a very diverse palette, color-wise.”

GABRIELLE SESSUM
Merchandising manager at J.Crew

Wearing: J.Crew shirt and bracelet, Levi’s jeans, Fossil purse, Beneath the Bark earrings, Old Navy sunglasses and Apple Watch
My style is…: “Laid-back. I like super flowy clothes or anything that is super comfy, like jeans and a cute top. I like to wear light colors like pastels and earth tones.”

WANDA STEWARD
Domestic violence intake at 19th Judicial District Courthouse

Wearing: Ashley Stewart jacket and pants, Guess shoes, guitar purse purchased at a previous festival, sunglasses, and rings and earrings from various boutiques around town
My style is…: “I’m 57 years old, but my mind is not of a 57-year-old. I like style. I’ll still have this on when I’m 70. I follow what is in right now. I stand with the trends, but then I try and add my own thing to it!”

SIERRA DAMATO
Freelance illustrator

Wearing: Positive Influence dress, Justin boots from Brown Roof, hat from Junk 2 Treasure, and gifted necklace
My style is…: “Very eclectic. I love to wear vintage pieces, and my style varies between girly and feminine. Like lace to more of a grunge-style with leather and such. … And I have an ever-growing hat collection!”

LAURA D’ARTOIS
Magnolia Woods Elementary School special education teacher

Wearing: Gianni Bini jumpsuit, kimono from Dillard’s, Dooney & Bourke purse, Cole Haan shoes, Versace sunglasses and vintage jewelry
My style is…: “Chic and boho. I gravitate toward pieces like kimonos, bodycon dresses, heels… I love the Kardashians’ style. They inspire my own personal style.”

KATHERINE GARCIA AND KAYDEN GARCIA

Wearing: Full outfits from various stores at the Mall of Louisiana
Their style: Their dad says, “We look at things that are trending right now and base it off that. We dress them together sometimes, but we also let them choose what they want to wear sometimes.”

SARAH AHRENS
Dog trainer

JUSTIN MONTREUIL
Entrepreneur

Wearing (Sarah): Yellow set from Maven boutique, American Eagle jacket, Target sandals, Earthbound Trading Co. headband, Free People backpack and Emerson Designs bracelet
Sarah’s style is…: “Bold. I try to dress differently than what is on trend.”

Wearing (Justin): Lucky Brand shirt, Carhartt flannel, jeans from Boot Barn, shoes from DSW and hat from Sweet Caroline Boutique
Justin’s style is…: “Down-to-earth and simple.”

AMY FINCH
Finch & Fox designer

Wearing: Finch & Fox shirt, pants, sweater, necklace and gloves; Dr. Martens boots and gifted earrings
My style is…: “Free-spirited and comfortable. I like to have an ‘I don’t care what anyone thinks’ attitude with it. I like to do my own thing. I don’t follow the trends—I start the trends.”
