Wine without the fuss: How Pink Flamingo Cooking Company makes food & wine experiences approachable for all

For many, the world of wine can feel intimidating – a realm reserved for those who can pronounce French varietals or debate the merits of Napa versus Sonoma. But for Yvette Aillet, a chef, educator and sommelier, wine is meant to be enjoyed, not overanalyzed.
“It’s just really not that serious,” she laughs. “We’re not going to the moon here. We’re eating and drinking, and it should be fun.”
Yvette’s mission is to demystify wine and bring people together around the table. With over a decade of experience teaching high school cooking and a passion for both food and wine, she’s created a unique business offering in-home food and wine experiences that are as personal as they are delicious.

“I want people to feel comfortable, to learn and to enjoy themselves, no matter their level of wine knowledge,” she says.
Her signature events are intimate, six-course dinners hosted in clients’ homes. Each menu is custom designed based on the group’s preferences, dietary needs and culinary curiosities.
“Everything is totally custom and unique,” Yvette explains. “I ask my clients to send out a survey to their guests so I can learn about their interests, allergies and even their wine preferences. That way, everyone feels included, and no one is left with a ‘sad chicken’ while others indulge.”
But what truly sets Yvette apart is her focus on education and connection. As she guides guests through thoughtfully paired courses, she shares stories about the wines’ origins, tips for selecting great bottles at any price point and the magic that happens when food and wine come together.
“I’m your Tuesday night wine girl,” she says. “I want to show you bottles that are special enough for the weekend, but approachable enough for any day.”

Yvette’s approach is refreshingly down-to-earth. There’s no pretense – just seasonal, flavorful food, great wine and the joy of gathering.
“I don’t cook fussy food,” she insists. “It’s about simple, delicious dishes that make sense together and hit all the right notes – salty, sweet, savory, crunchy. The best part is sharing it with the people you love.”
Her own journey to this career is as inspiring as her dinners. After culinary school and years in the classroom, Yvette found herself craving a new challenge. With encouragement from her husband, she launched her business, Pink Flamingo Cooking Company, named for the vibrant birds whose color comes from what they eat – a playful nod to the idea that food and experiences shape who we are.
“Doing this gave me my pink back,” she says, referencing the way flamingos regain their color after raising their young. “It’s about finding joy and sharing it with others.”
For those looking to elevate their next gathering, or simply make wine a little less intimidating, Yvette’s in-home experiences offer the perfect blend of expertise, warmth and fun.
“At the end of the day, it’s about good food, good wine and good company,” she says. “That’s all you really need.”
