Rising Stars: Addison Harvey

U-High (University Lab School)

Addison Harvey must be a fast learner. She grew up doing gymnastics before getting the itch to try a new sport in seventh grade. She decided to give softball a swing and wound up starting on U-High’s varsity team as a middle schooler.

She was a right-handed batter back then, but her coaches taught her how to use her speed to become a slap hitter from the left side. Harvey was also initially an outfielder before being moved to shortstop as soon as the opening became available.

“Softball was the first sport I decided to try out for, and I just liked playing it and did really well in it,” Harvey says. “When the high school coach came and asked me my seventh grade year if I wanted to play on the varsity team, it was very shocking. I wasn’t that experienced at all.”

Harvey has since earned spots on various All-Metro and All-State teams for her performances, but she’s still continuously on the hunt for improvement as she has her eyes set on the next level.

“In the future I would love to play college ball,” Harvey says. “I really have no idea where I would want to go, but I really want to have a good education as well. Having an education along with playing college softball would be really amazing.”
