The Baton Rouge area provides plenty of social scenarios that promote camaraderie with a playful dose of competition. No matter if you’re loyal to board games or want to reignite your love for the sports of PE classes past, there’s something local for every gamer.

EBPL’s Grown-up Gaming League

Feel like a kid again with this library offering. Engage in a game of Risk or Catan, or embark on a roleplaying campaign of Dungeons & Dragons with other players. Disc golf

Frisbee meets golf for this sport. Instead of clubs, tees and holes, players fling discs at targets. Find local players and courses by joining the Baton Rouge Disc Golf Association group on Facebook.

Cornhole

A tailgate pastime and backyard staple, this seemingly lax lawn game can get pretty serious when those beanbags start to fly. Matchups of varying levels go down every Wednesday night at Court to Table, headed up by Westside Cajun Cornhole.

Kickball

Elements of baseball and soccer mix at Perkins Road Community Park when Red Stick Area Kickball kicks it on the field. This co-ed league has been around for a little over two decades, giving locals a source of recreational and competitive play.

Chess

Get in on the silent action of this one-on-one board game by joining in with the Baton Rouge Chess Club. All ages and skill levels are welcome to battle for checkmates at the club’s weekly meetups at Boba Partea on O’Neal Lane.

Croquet

Grab a mallet, aim and smack with the Red Stick Croquet Club. Yep, this centuries-old European lawn sport has a stronghold in Baton Rouge, with the club hosting weekly play times at City-Brooks Community Park Croquet Court.
