Taylor Swift to kick off Bayou Country Superfest

Hot off the release of her new album 1989, Taylor Swift will return to Tiger Stadium for the 2015 Bayou Country Superfest.

Swift will headline the opening night of the country music festival on Friday, May 22. Her Capital City appearance is part of a world tour in support of her latest release. The Bayou Country Superfest show will be her first performance in Baton Rouge in five years. The festival will continue Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24. The complete music lineup for the sixth annual event will be announced Wednesday.

Single-day tickets for Swift and traditional Saturday-Sunday only packages go on sale Thursday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m. at bayoucountrysuperfest.com, axs.com or by calling 1-888-611-8184.

This is the second year in a row that Bayou Country Superfest has added Friday performances to its schedule. Last year, George Strait kicked the festival off with a Friday night in Tiger Stadium as part of his farewell tour dubbed The Cowboy Rides Away. Response to Monday’s announcement has reached peak hater levels on Bayou Country Superfest’s Facebook page, with many country fans calling the Swift opening night a bad move. Knowing Swift, she’ll probably just shake it off.

Swift’s latest album is projected to sell more than a million copies in its first week of release and could be the only 2014 release to go platinum.
