The newest incarnation of the increasingly popular Drop The Needle concert series takes place Friday, February 21, at Hartley Vey Studios at Manship Theatre. Tickets are still available for the second 10 p.m. show, which was added after the 7 p.m. show sold out.
This month’s edition of the series will tackle Elvis Costello’s My Aim is True, which is ranked at #168 on Rolling Stone’s Top 500 Albums of All Time list. The 1977 LP is widely regarded as one of the more impressive debut albums in popular music. Check out the stellar “Allison” below.

For those unfamiliar with the Drop The Needle format, the series began as the brainchild of Rob Chidester, whose passion for displaying local talent has been the driving force behind Royal Cyclops, a local production company that organizes Drop the Needle as well as original local songwriter and band showcases.
After a classic album is chosen, a house band is assembled from the wealth of local players and other local artists and musicians are featured on a song-by-song basis. This provides a very cohesive overall presentation of the album yet leaves some room for personal interpretation, which keeps the performance fresh and exciting from one song to the next.
Drop the Needle has drawn capacity crowds over the past several months while celebrating albums like David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust, Carole King’s Tapestry, and The Beatles’ White Album, so the second show could also sell out. Tickets can be be purchased here while they last.
