Pure Country – Louisiana’s biggest country music event returns

There are few performers in any genre of music who can match the success of George Strait. He boasts a record 44 chart-toppers on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and 60 No. 1 songs on the Billboard charts overall. He’s garnered 13 multi-platinum albums, 33 platinum and 38 gold albums. He also turns 62 on May 18, and just five days later takes the stage at this year’s Bayou Country Superfest.

It’s his only festival appearance this year, and because the popular singer announced he’s soon retiring from touring, it’s sure to be a big one. So big, in fact, that the Superfest organizers added a third date to the usually two-day event to accommodate him.

That Friday night lineup also features Reba McEntire, whose resume of successes is none-too-shabby either.
