Movie picks: ‘Interstellar’

Matthew McConaughey returns to space in Christopher Nolan’s latest
Could this be the year the Academy gives a little love to Christopher Nolan? The acclaimed director has consistently delivered with original films such as Inception and The Prestige as well as adaptations, most notably his masterful work with The Dark Knight Trilogy. This weekend, movie-lovers will be able to see Nolan’s latest, Interstellar, a science-fiction drama starring Matthew McConaughey. Here, the recent Oscar-winner stars as Coop, a pilot who is tasked with a mission to explore a mysterious rip in the space-time continuum and see if life exists on other planets. On Earth, drought, famine and extreme changes in climate threaten humanity. Early reviews have compared Interstellar to Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey. Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine and Casey Affleck co-star. Rated PG-13.
