For the Thanksgiving 2018 table: Where you can get a turkey in Baton Rouge

While it might seem like Halloween-time just ended, we are well on our way to the next of the fall holidays: Thanksgiving. As a holiday centered around food and family, it’s important to get the Thanksgiving meal just right. For some of us, that might mean making a quick trip to a local restaurant or deli to pick up a dish instead of spending hours in the kitchen.

Lucky for you, 225 Dine has you covered. Over the next few weeks, we’ll share some of the best places around Baton Rouge to grab Thanksgiving staples. We are starting off with the main event: the bird. Below are some great places to get a Thanksgiving turkey around the Capital City.

Stay tuned to 225 Dine for side dishes and dessert options over the next two weeks.

BRQ Seafood & Barbeque

BRQ has many options for Turkey Day. Both the Jefferson Highway location and the new Denham Springs location are currently taking reservations for a Thanksgiving Day celebration filled with turkey, ham and lots of yummy sides. Reserve a seat here.

The barbecue joint is also offering a catering menu, complete with a whole, smoked free-range turkey to bring to dinner. You can order the bird as part of a family package or on its own. All orders must be placed by noon, Nov. 21.  Look through the Thanksgiving catering menu here.

Frank’s Restaurant

Frank’s can take care of all your Thanksgiving bird-related needs. The restaurant is offering a multitude of turkeys to choose from, including the classic baked turkey, a fried turkey, or even a pecan-smoked turkey.  Order your turkey online, and check out all the yummy side options while you are browsing.

City Pork

Looking for a traditional smoked turkey? Look no further than City Pork. The Hollydale Avenue and Jefferson Highway locations are serving up whole house-smoked turkeys for Thanksgiving, with some delectable sides, too.  Just make sure you order by Nov. 19. Be on the lookout for City Pork’s holiday menu coming soon to its website.

Bergeron’s City Market

Chef Don Bergeron and his Bergeron’s City Market team won’t disappoint this Thanksgiving, offering three different turkey dishes for the big day. A whole roasted turkey stuffed with onions, carrots and celery, a roasted turkey carved and sliced by the pound, and a Cajun deep-fried boneless turkey are all on the menu this year. The entire  Thanksgiving catering menu can be found here. (You can thank us later!)

Maxwell’s Market

Available at all three Maxwell’s locations, the restaurants and delis are serving up whole roasted turkeys as well as roasted turkey breast. The turkeys, along with Maxwell’s entire holiday catering menu, will be available for Christmas, too. There’s also a New Year’s Day menu, if you want to get a head start on party planning. Checkout the holiday menu.

Copeland’s of New Orleans

Copeland’s already has its holiday catering menu up and ready to go. Offering both an entire Cajun fried turkey and Cajun fried turkey breast, you will be the favorite of the family Thanksgiving dinner bringing either of these birds home. Look through the entire holiday menu here.

Sammy’s Grill and Creole Cabana

These sister restaurants are bringing Thanksgiving right to your front door. Sammy’s Grill is offering fried or rotisserie turkey, while Creole Cabana is offering a smoked turkey. Both restaurants are also offering many other meats and main dishes, as well as sides and desserts. Check out their holiday menus here.
