Tailgate caterers to spice up your LSU gameday party

In Baton Rouge, a tailgate spread may be more carefully planned out than a Thanksgiving feast.

The Capital City is brimming with restaurants and catering companies to supply LSU tailgates. 225 Dine went looking for some great places to call when grilling hamburgers and hot dogs just won’t cut it.

Here are some of the sources we found during our research. What are your favorite places for tailgate food? Let us know in the comments!

For Louisiana classics: Louisiana Bayou Bistro

Boudin balls, spicy crawfish and meat pies, muffalettas, roast beef po-boys and seasonal boiled seafood: Louisiana Bayou Bistro has everything you need for a tailgate straight from Cajun country.

For a barbecue-palooza: Podnuh’s Bar-B-Que

You can order cooked meat by the pound from Podnuh’s catering—reason enough to call the restaurant for your barbecue tailgate. Podnuh’s offers a variety of meats—beef brisket, pulled pork, whole chickens, half and whole racks of ribs and more. Pair them with sides like buttery green beans, corn on the cob and potato salad for a complete barbecue experience.

For a gourmet cookout: Gourmet Girls

Katia Mangham of Gourmet Girls will supply your tailgate with a table worthy of the pickiest critics. With an expansive menu featuring items like candied bacon deviled eggs, Grecian orzo pasta salad and tequila lime-glazed shrimp, Gourmet Girls can turn the average tailgate into a foodie’s dream.

For tailgating basics: Pot and Paddle

Sometimes, more is less. When all you need is a big ol’ pot of jambalaya, salad and some rolls, Pot and Paddle has you covered. The Creole restaurant also offers red and white beans and gumbo for tailgates.

For the snacking crowd: Brew Ha-Ha

Brew Ha-ha caters “Munch Party Trays” and “Munchie Trays” for tailgates on home days. For tailgaters who just like to snack throughout the day, Brew Ha-ha’s trays are a good option. The trays come with different combinations of finger sandwiches, mini croissant sandwiches, vegetables and dip, fruit and dip and mini cake balls.

For breakfast and dessert: Kolache Kitchen and Ambrosia Bakery

These two culinary havens don’t deliver, but they do offer mouthwatering tailgate packages.

For early days out on the Parade Grounds, stop by Kolache Kitchen on Nicholson Drive and pick up a dozen or more savory kolaches or sweet purple and gold cinnamon rolls. Smoked sausage kolaches, chorizo breakfast tacos, chicken empanadas and cinnamon apple kolaches are just a few options on Kolache Kitchen’s menu. Any order of more than a dozen items gets 10 percent off.

Ambrosia Bakery, well known for its decadent cakes and fresh-baked breads, offers cookie and dessert trays for tailgaters with a sweet tooth. Ambrosia packs small, medium and large trays full of mini pastries, various cookies, petit fours, sugar-coated brownie bites and more.
